Acodec operates two dairy plants in the towns of Borisoglebsk and Tigris in the Yaroslavl Region of Russia. The first plant, in Borisoglebsk, was reconstructed in 1997 – 1998. The second plant, in Tigris, was acquired in 2003. Currently Acodec produces 110 tons per day of hard cheese.
The Acodec brand, Posad, has strong market recognition as the best quality Russian cheese in the Moscow and St. Petersburg markets. Recently, the company launched vacuum packed cheese which has added to its revenue base and has increased its marketing territory to include Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Samara and Chelyabinsk.
Acodec was sold in December 2005.
FoodMaster International owns and operates five dairy companies in Kazakhstan, two in Moldova and one in Ukraine employing more than 1,800 people. Its products include milk, yogurt, ice cream, kefir, sour cream, cottage cheese, hard and soft cheeses, UHT milk, fruit juices and other products. API owns 78 percent of the company.
The products of FMI in each country are sold directly to the local markets through internal distribution systems and to remote regions both directly and through third party distribution. The company has built strong product recognition, with 80 percent of its target market recognizing the name. It now holds major market shares in all areas where it operates. The company has invested in distribution, training, and human resources to improve and expand the internal distribution systems. The company is positioning itself to be more attractive to foreign strategic investors who are most interested in distribution systems, market share and brand image.
The company's production facilities have been modernized and brought up to Western standards. In 2002, FMI Kazakhstan became the first food company in central Asia to receive ISO 9001 certification. FMI has now received ISO 9001 certification for its plants in all three countries.
FoodMaster was sold in November 2004.
Saint Springs Water produces and bottles premium-brand still and carbonated drinking water for the Russian market. The company has developed two distinct water businesses, the traditional bottled water business and the home and office cooler business. API purchased a minority stake in this company in 1997.
Saint Springs was sold in mid-year 2002.
